Wendorff Bros. Co., Inc. was founded in 1998 with a clear mission: to deliver precision metal stamping and manufacturing excellence to industrial clients across North America. Built on the Wendorff family's deep expertise in manufacturing operations, the company quickly established itself as a trusted partner for complex fabrication, stamping, and assembly work.
In 2005, the company expanded its capabilities by acquiring Capitol Stampings Corp., strengthening its position in custom metal stamping and tooling services.
Expansion & Excellence (2005-2019)
Through the 2000s and 2010s, Wendorff Bros. Co., Inc. grew into a comprehensive manufacturing powerhouse. The company operated multiple subsidiaries including Steel Craft Corp., Hartford Finishing, and Capitol Stampings, collectively serving major industrial clients with integrated services spanning stamping, fabrication, finishing, and assembly.
With combined revenues exceeding $125 million and a reputation for operational excellence, the company became a cornerstone of Wisconsin's industrial manufacturing sector. The Wendorff family's commitment to quality, innovation, and employee development made the company an employer of choice in the region.
Strategic Evolution (2019-Present)
A New Chapter
In June 2019, the Wendorff family made a strategic decision to transition the company's focus. The manufacturing subsidiaries—Steel Craft Corp., Hartford Finishing, and Capitol Stampings—were sold to MiddleGround Capital, a leading private equity firm specializing in industrial manufacturing.
This transition was not an exit, but rather a strategic repositioning. Shortly thereafter, Wendorff Bros. Co., Inc. completed a $30 million sale-leaseback transaction with W.P. Carey, a leading net lease REIT. This transaction provided the company with substantial capital while maintaining long-term control of three mission-critical industrial facilities totaling 619,000 square feet.
